If, after all of the inspections and the appraisal are done, you have not yet had a conversation with an insurance agent about acquiring Homeowners Insurance (also called Hazard Insurance), now is the time to do that.  This is a great opportunity to speak with one of our recommended insurance agents who can get quotes for not just your homeowners insurance, but also reassess your auto and umbrella policies as well to save you money on all of these by bundling the policies together.  If you’re happy with your current auto insurance company, you can always call them and set up a homeowners policy as well.  This just takes a few minutes over the phone, but it is required by all lenders that the borrower maintain hazard insurance on the property at all times, so it needs to be set up prior to closing.
